Távkonferenciát tartott a GEO EO4SDGs munkacsoportja GSDI részvétellel

A kormányközi GEO szervezet 2017-19 évi munkatervében a GEO SDGs kezdeményezés témakörű tevékenység a korábbi GI-18 megjelölés helyett a kifejezőbb EO4SDGs (Earth Observations for the Sustainable Development Goals) elnevezést kapta. A kezdeményezés munkacsoportja időről időre telekonferenciát tart, melyen a GSDI szervezet részéről Roger Longhorn főtitkárral veszünk részt.
A mai találkozóról, melyen Argyro
Kavvada (NASA HQ/Booz Allen & Hamilton) elnökölt, Roger Longhorn GSDI főtitkár kimentette magát, mivel a Nemzetközi Hidrográfiai Szervezet Tengerészeti Téradat-infrastruktúra Munkacsoport rendezvényén vesz részt Vancouverben, így a GSDI szervezet részéről magam szóltam hozzá az Outreach and Engagement kérdéskörben. A hozzászólás többek között két közelgő hazai eseményre is felhívta a figyelmet a fenntartható fejlődés célkitűzései kontextusában, jelesül az Európai Földmérők és Geoinformatikusok Napján, illetve a GIS Open Konferencián elhangzó Mihály Szabolcs és tsai előadásokra, amelyek beszámolnak a már folyamatban lévő nemzetközi erőfeszítésekről is. A hozzászólásban elhangzott hét téma írásos változata az alábbi:

"1 GSDI is elaborating capacity building package on Marine SDI best practices.

2 GSDI Secretary General Roger Longhorn are just participating IHO Marine SDI event in Vancouver where to liaise more closely with GEO is a work item that falls within GSDI Association’ remit as member of the IHO MSDI Working Group.

3 It is foreseen, CEOS WGISS and GSDI will arrange a session devoted to 'best practice apps of use of geospatial and CEOS EO data at one of the following WGISS Meetings.

4 How SDGs are challenging the stakeholders will be the topic of a presentation of the European Surveyors' and Geoinformatics' Day in Budapest on 22nd March. (Co-authors: Prof. Szabolcs Mihály, Tamás Palya and Gábor Remetey) (https://www.mfttt.hu/mftttportal/index.php/rendezvenyek)

5 The challenge for SDI in monitoring and reporting to support the achievement of the SDGs will be the topic of a plenary presentation at the 21th GIS Open in Székesfehérvár, Hungary between 11-13 April, 2017 (Co-authors: Prof. Szabolcs Mihály and Gabor Remetey) (http://www.gisopen.hu)

6 The DelBianco CitySmart app, using the World Wind platform jointly developed by ESA and NASA, will be presented in Florence in mid-March to an international gathering of Mayors. CitySmart is an open source application for managing urban infrastructure. Presentations by ESA developers and others will demonstrate 4D visualization capabilities that will include analyses of satellite data using direct access to Copernicus/Sentinel Hub data. This platform will benefit Serving Decision Makers in line with the SDG targets and indicators which will provide points for discussion, www.lifebeyondtourism.org/evento/991. And worth noting, the international NASA World Wind Europa Challenge is now in its 5th year, http://eurochallenge.como.polimi.it/.

7 GSDI will be represented at the 10th International Symposium on Digital Earth of ISDE held in Sydney between 5-8 April, 2017 (http://bit.ly/2joXTqK), where a presentation will be given on 'SDGs support applicability of open source, virtual globe: the case of NASA World Wind with (Co-authors: Patrick Hogan NASA ARC, Prof. Maria A.
